You’ve probably seen the commercials on TV for luxury resort locations in the Virgin Islands or Jamaica. These resorts advertise themselves as all-inclusive couples resorts. I found it a bit confusing at first because I misheard it and thought it meant exclusive, which I interpreted as very expensive or reserved only for a certain group of people, like executives or something. It turns out that an accurate understanding of the term “all inclusive couples resorts” can lead you to discover some awesome places to vacation and a really great way to do it! You see, all-inclusive means that all the costs of your vacation are included up front. The only exception might be the cost of travel to get to the resort in the first place, but even that is included in some packages.

So what exactly do these all-inclusive couples resorts consider inclusive? First of all, there is a complete lack of fees and taxes. All services are paid in full in advance, you are not even expected to tip. That’s a relief: I don’t like having to keep small amounts of cash on hand. The next big thing is meals. All-inclusive resorts for couples offer elegant luxury restaurants where you can order whatever you want and never worry about the cost since it is all-inclusive. I know what you’re thinking, that the trick has to be the drinks, or maybe just the alcoholic drinks, but there you’d be wrong. Premium and alcoholic beverages, as well as carbonated beverages, tea, coffee, mineral water and any other beverages offered, are included in the price of your resort stay.

You may be thinking that if everything is included, it means that the accommodations themselves will leave a lot to be desired. Again, you would be wrong. You’ll be treated like a prince and princess when you choose to stay at an all-inclusive couples resort. All of these resorts will have well-appointed pools, but some even offer adjoining pools so you can literally swim out to your own patio to dry off before opening your room’s sliding glass door. That’s pretty much the ultimate in luxury as far as I’m concerned. Rooms are air-conditioned, so you’ll be comfortable no matter what tropical weather it’s outside, though if you’re used to hot weather, you may want to turn it off for a truly authentic tropical vacation. Your room will have a fully stocked hair dryer and wet bar, and even a safe so you can protect your valuables when you’re swimming or snorkeling. All-inclusive couples resorts also keep up with your needs, even including iPod docking stations these days!
