What is a strong man??
A strong man is a high-ranking principality demon spirit who sits on thrones in the spirit realm and rules over evil spirits operating in the earth realm. These evil spirits can rule over certain geographic areas of the earth, can operate in churches and be passed down from generation to generation in a family, and can also inhabit within an individual. We must always remember that our struggle occurs in the spirit realm. Our fight is not against men and women of flesh and blood. Our battle is against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness on high. These are the demonic spiritual forces that have set up thrones in the second heaven to prevent us from entering the third heaven where God resides. These forces block our prayers, our liberation, our freedom and have come down to earth to enter the hearts and minds of people.
How does a strong man enter??
A strong man can enter when a door has been left open for the devil to enter. When the enemy has gained entry to a given area, a strongman or ruling spirit will be in control. Lesser evil spirits will follow as manifestations of the strong man, but in order to get rid of evil spirits, you must first start from the root by dealing with the strong man. To be free from these strong men, deliverance must take place and you must bind the strong man and loose the Holy Spirit.
The word tells us that when a strong man like Satan is fully armed and guards his palace, his possessions are safe until someone even stronger attacks him and overpowers him, stripping him of his weapons and taking his belongings. Jesus has given us authority to go into the enemy’s camp and bind him and take his property. These assets include our marriages, our children, our businesses, our churches, and the most important lost souls. Anything the devil has stolen from us is ours to go in and take back. The Bible says that the Kingdom of Heaven has been advancing strongly, and violent people are attacking it. We have been allowed to advance on the enemy and recover the goods under the protection of Jesus Christ.

There are 16 strong man demon spirits that the Bible talks about. Jesus has given us power and dominion over all of them to keep them from operating as we pray for the Holy Spirit to come in and take over. We unleash the Holy Spirit to come into the situation to set the captive free, to bring light into the darkness, to remove the chains that have bound us, and to proclaim freedom. We have been given the keys to heaven and whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
