I guess you like to play tower defense games, like me. Have you ever been in this situation? You started playing some time ago, you start the current wave to see all your towers go off, but some of the enemies still make it to your base, with only a little bit of life saved, but just enough to render all your previous efforts useless? Oh, especially if your base doesn’t have enough hit points left and you have to start over, I know how it feels!

Well, below I will write some tips to help you handle the situation and win more tower defense games. There are differences from game to game, but the advice you will receive is meant to be general.

  1. Place the short-range towers (usually the ones that you allow yourself at the beginning or some powerful, but short-range ones) as close as possible to the turning points in the maze. This way they will keep shooting for longer.
  2. Put the long-range towers towards the center of the map. Consider that most of the time their rank will increase by upgrading them! This way you will cover much more of the path the enemy walks on.
  3. Use towers with slowing effects! It is best to put them in front of groups of towers that will deal massive damage.
  4. If you know you’ll be dealing with self-healing enemies, don’t spread your towers too far apart. You don’t want them to have time to recover their health.
  5. If there are poison towers, they belong to the beginning of the maze and at pre-calculated intervals (to poison the enemy again when the effect wears off).
  6. Upgrades: You have to find out while playing which towers are really worth upgrading. That is, upgrading a slow tower might be more beneficial to your defense (and cheaper) than upgrading the entire group of towers behind it. However, on small maps and towards the end of the game, you will be forced to go for quality over quantity (especially if the enemy has armor!).
  7. In some tower defense games, some enemies are more susceptible to damage from certain towers. Find out which one, if any, and use it against them!
