In general, there are feelings that are seen as “good” and feelings that are seen as “bad.” As a result of this, it can be normal for someone to deny certain feelings and accept others.

To go a step further, they might see themselves as a “good” person who only experiences “good” feelings. For example, they might see themselves as someone who is always happy, friendly, and accepting of others.

Both senses

Along with this, most of the people in your life might also have a very similar view of them. If one were to experience “bad” feelings and their behavior changed, these people are likely to be very surprised.

Some of these people may think that one is in a very bad place and may hope that they will soon be the same again. Some of them might even prefer to keep their distance for a while.

live in denial

Now, regardless of whether one is in this position or just doing what they can to avoid the “bad” feelings, these feelings will not have completely disappeared. You will no longer be aware of them, but that does not mean that they will no longer be a part of your consciousness.

Feelings that you do not allow yourself to acknowledge and deny as soon as they enter your awareness will remain in another part of your being. Their unconscious mind/body will contain both the feelings and the parts of themselves that they have rejected.

living on the surface

To avoid this other part of your being, you will need to stay out of your body and live in your head. If they were to connect with their body, they could soon come into contact with the internal stuff they would rather avoid.

To prevent this internal material from entering your conscious mind, numerous defenses may have automatically been set up. In addition, your body (its muscles and fascia) may have contracted in certain places, thus preventing what is held underneath from rising.

severely exhausted

As the years go by, you are likely to find that it becomes more and more difficult for you to continue living this way. First of all, the more “bad” feelings and parts of themselves you have pushed out of your awareness, the more energy you will need to keep all of this at bay.

Second, because what you have stored deep within you will be made up of your own life force, the more you push down, the less you have, and yet the more energy you need to maintain it. Ultimately, then, without realizing it, one is fighting a battle that one simply cannot win.

The truth

Therefore, although one may see certain feelings as “good” and certain feelings as “bad”, they are all made of the same thing in their essence. Considering this, if you stop embracing all your feelings by disconnecting from the “bad” ones, you will lose touch with a lot of your energy.

Furthermore, by losing touch with their so-called “bad” feelings, they will not be able to truly experience the “good” ones. What this boils down to is that they exist on a spectrum, and when you lose one side, you lose the other side as well.

A fight

The “good” feelings they experience will be forced and heavily dependent on external means, such as food and alcohol, for example. Not having access to their emotional fuel will also mean that they will rely on the power of their mind: willpower.

Another result of having all this stuff locked up in your body is that it can lead to physical problems. This energy will not be able to go up and out, so it will undermine your body from the inside.

emotional containment

It would be easy to say that feelings like hate and anger should be denied as they only cause harm and destruction. However, these feelings will only lead to that result if one is controlled by them and does something destructive.

The key will be for someone to be able to be with what they are feeling and see what is happening within them as information. From here, they will be able to investigate why they are experiencing a certain feeling and what they should do.

Emotional Transmutation

For example, if someone were to experience hate, it could show that there is someone in their life who is hurting them in some way. By paying attention to this feeling, along with the feelings that accompany it, they may see that they need to confront this person and/or cut ties with them.

In addition to this, they may find that there is much softer pain underneath this hate and that they need to grieve what happened and forgive themselves and the other person. By processing this experience instead of denying it, you will not need to close your heart and shut down.

an old wound

If how you are feeling is not related to what is currently happening in your life, it could show that you are reconnected to something that happened many, many years ago. What happened will be over, but the pain they experienced would have stayed in their body.

However, even if the way they feel seems to be related to what is happening, it could still be a repeat of an old scenario. This can show that they have unconsciously recreated a previous experience so that they can become aware of what they need to resolve in order to become more whole and complete.

Awareness

With all this in mind, if one wants to be connected to their personal power and have access to all of their life force, not just a small part of it, it is essential that they embrace their “darkness”. If they don’t do this, they will become very weak and unbalanced human beings.

If you can relate to this and are ready to change your life, you may need to seek outside support. This is something that can be provided with the help of a therapist or healer.
