Vacations in Jamaica need no publicity because it has been the leading corridor in Caribbean tourism. Known as the land of wood and water, this beautiful country is known for many things, from gorgeous beaches to reggae music. Jamaica has contributed immensely to the world in many ways even though it is a small country.

Vacations in Jamaica focus on five main areas; Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio and the south coast (Treasure Beach). Montego Bay is the tourist capital of Jamaica that has many wonderful beaches and beautiful mountains. However, this is the second largest city in Jamaica and the resorts and fun activities are not concentrated in one area. Montego Bay is home to one of Jamaica’s two main airports, Sangster International Airport. It also has a dock that could hold up to 5 large cruise ships at a time.

Ocho Rios, which is situated on the north shore between Montego Bay and Port Antonio, is simply fantastic. This is a complete tourist city equipped with the necessary. It boasts some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and is home to the world famous Dunn’s River Falls. Even if Ocho Rios isn’t your choice of vacation spot for a day out, it’s pretty cozy.

Port Antonio has added another dimension to Jamaican vacations. Situated on the northeastern tip of the island at the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains, this is a model of ecotourism. Reach Water Falls, one of the best waterfalls in Jamaica, is located here. The azure blue ocean is complemented by beautiful rivers with their therapeutic properties that are waiting for you. Indeed, a vacation to Jamaica is not complete without a visit to this wonderful coastal city.

Vacations in Jamaica were primarily focused on the north shore, however, that was before the beauty of Treasure Beach on the south side was recognized. Still in its pristine form, this area is the epitome of the real Jamaica. The people are kind and honest, they receive each visitor with a warm and friendly affection.

The many things that a vacation to Jamaica has to offer make it one of the most popular small islands in the world. Beautiful beaches, smooth rums with distinct Jamaican flavors, reggae music, majestic waterfalls, and the best Caribbean cuisine make Jamaica a true favorite.
