Chevy’s workhorse – the Silverado has had a little makeover this year! Even after winning “North American Truck of the Year” in 2014, Chevrolet’s chief engineer (Eric Stanczak) said he was proud of the changes they made this year and touted the High Country Edition as having “tough luxury.” “. .

Consumer Reports agrees with Stanczak that the Silverado has a quiet cabin and steering that handles like a luxury car. They also liked other features, like its fuel economy.

The 5.3-liter Silverado V-8 achieved 16 mpg, beating Ford’s Eco Boost V-6 and Ram’s Hemi V-8.

Consumer Reports liked the towing capabilities and payload capabilities. They noted that the low-effort liftgate assists are a big plus for the 2015 Silverado. You can open or close one of its liftgates with one hand and little effort.

Consumer Reports liked the low step in access to the height; it doesn’t inhibit ground clearance, but it makes it easy to get in and out for most people.

Silverado cabins have come a long way from your grandfather’s truck! They offer heated or cooled leather seats that adjust to 12 different positions at the touch of a button, heated steering wheels, headrest DVD screens, rear cameras, Sirius radio, USB ports, Bose audio systems with 6 speakers, and a My Link system to sync your phone with the vehicle’s touchscreen command center.

The Crew Cab model has a full rear seat with plenty of room for 3 people, including ample room for a car seat, making it viable for a station wagon vs. a station wagon. just a work truck!

Silverado comes in 3 engine sizes: the 4.3-liter V-6, the 5.3-liter V-8, or the 6.2-liter V-8. They’re all available rear-wheel drive or 4×4 with short or long beds, too. Depending on your towing or payload needs, there’s plenty of power to go around!

According to Consumer Reports, the Silverado’s downfall is the jumpy ride, unsupported seats and wet-road braking. It stops fast on dry pavement, but takes a long time to stop on wet pavement.

One option made available to Silverado truck owners this year was the WI-FI hotspot. They are the first manufacturer to offer this to their customers with 3 months supplemental data.

For looks, the popular package is their Black Out Edition. It features dark tinted glass, a black grille and 20″ aluminum wheels/rims and a black bowtie Chevy emblem on the grille and tailgate.

Car and Driver claims that the Black Out package is only about $1595, and obviously if you’re going to have a tough-looking truck like that, you might as well add another $1100 for the 6.2-liter V-8 to make it sound and act as good as it looks!

The Chevy Silverado is a great truck for the money, but it will be hard to keep the price down when you see all the amazing options available to you!

Parking assist, towing packages, styling options, telescoping steering wheels, climate zone controls, navigation systems, sprayed-on bed liners, lights or tie-downs on bed, corner bumpers, etc, etc.

This is NOT your grandpa’s old Chevy truck anymore!
