Infrared blaster is a device that mimics the functions of an infrared remote control. It is usually connected to a computer and is a mini device that mechanically feeds itself from the PC it is connected to. In this way, the system acts as a remote control and can access and control virtually all other IR devices such as TV, VCR, etc.
The IR blaster can output three different types of signals, such as the spatial signal, the RC5 signal, and a pulse coded signal. There are a number of applications, the most common being used to control a DVD or video recorder. These are also used to extend the range of a remote by keeping it in a place where the remote can’t see. They also expand the mobility of the user.
It is an uncomplicated piece of equipment and it is easy to use. Sometimes it’s bewildering to configure with new devices. They are quite expensive and the selling price depends on various factors such as quality, sensitivity, type and purpose of use. They usually come with other products and are semi-permanent.
