With this short article we continue our discussion of customizing, developing, modifying, configuring, and deploying Microsoft Business Solutions CRM.

Microsoft CRM does not currently have advanced fax automation: you can record the fact of receiving or sending faxes, but it is not enough for your daily work with your customers. The user must be able to send and receive faxes in their work environment; is in MS CRM

The fax software automation market is very mature and we don’t have to re-invite the bike here. All we have to do is integrate one of the trusted solutions into Microsoft CRM. Let’s look at the technical aspects of the integration:

o The modification must be based on the logical alteration of the standard event fax activity. The standard version of CRM allows you to save the information of incoming or outgoing faxes in the SQL database. Alternate form must have additional parameters for fax delivery

o Immediately after the moment the fax is saved in the CRM database, Albaspectrum MS CRM Universal Fax Connector takes over the logic, more precisely the fax sending part of the logic, performed as MS CRM Post -Callout, registered to add and update fax activity. At the time of creating a new fax activity, our module considers the attached documents as subject to be transferred to the recipient.

o Depending on the fax application/extension you use, the call parameters are passed to the appropriate plug-in, which in turn communicates with the fax application.

o Faxing can be done through specialized systems or direct hardware control through the MS FAX API.

o Initially we plan to support GFI FaxMaker and Captaris RightFax through its printing system and integration with MS Exchange and Lotus Domino email servers

o Documents, delivered or received through the fax extension, could be integrated into MS SharePoint through our proposed product Albaspectrum MS CRM Document Gateway. This allows you to review and version the document with automatic faxing to the addresses involved.

o For incoming faxes, we suggest capturing them through special drivers at the MTA level (MS Exchange or Lotus Domino); your task is to take care of the fax transfer and save it for the recipient in CRM and creating fax activities in MS CRM.

o This approach provides a seamless workflow of incoming and outgoing fax documents in MS CRM.
