To add to that advantage, we also need to know how to repurpose 5 gallon buckets into something else that has a different function. Here’s how to properly clean 5 gallon buckets.
First of all, you need to prepare the following materials:
- dishwashing detergent
- baking soda
- Scrub
- Chlorine bleach
Then follow these steps:
- Completely empty the bucket of sticky dust, debris, or any visible dirt you see in it.
- Then pour some dishwashing detergent into the bottom of the bucket and mix it with warm water.
- Scrub the surface of the bucket well, starting from the inside working towards the outside of the bucket.
- Empty the bucket and rinse it under warm water to remove any soap residue.
- Once it looks clean, fill it with hot water and add a cup of baking soda.
- Close the lid and leave it in the sun for 48 hours.
- When it’s time, empty the bucket once more and fill it with warm water.
- Have 2 cups of chlorine bleach ready and pour it into the water.
- Stir well.
- Put it back in the sun for another 48 hours.
- Empty the bucket and rinse it along with its lid.
- Put it back under the sun to dry.
Now your 5 gallon bucket is clean and ready for your next use.
