When we started making our first roommate rental home we didn’t realize we had an amazing idea and that idea could help anyone with a home earn extra CASH and have their home make their mortgage or at except a large part of it. That’s what we did, check it out.

When we started renting rooms at The Roommate House, our son lived in the house. We were just helping him so he wouldn’t have to make the full mortgage payment. At first, we found two male roommates to help him with the mortgage. It worked out so well that we had a third male roommate and when our son entered the Navy, it was easy to find a fourth male roommate. We continue to find roommates to (We help our son, why not help ourselves?) Help make the mortgage payment and some extra cash flow.

As we progressed, we realized we could hire a maid or just assign existing roommates tasks to keep the place clean inside and out. In addition, we created house rules so roommates wouldn’t have to put up with a messy environment, disrespect for space, time, others’ privacy, and disrespect for other people’s property. Of course, we don’t want to have wild parties and unacceptable behavior like people of the opposite sex sleeping at home. We have roommates who not only sign and agree to our month-to-month contract, but also sign the House Rules agreement form. Everyone follows the rules or leaves.

We even separated the refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, and pantry with name tags for your individual shelves and cold spots in the refrigerator and freezer.

Roommate tasks include: have one roommate mow and clean up the yard and trim with a lawn edger, another take out the debris which is then deposited in the trash or appropriate green bin. A roommate is assigned to make sure the trash is taken out on the appropriate day (Tuesday is our trash day) and put back in the backyard after the trash has been picked up. Another roommate cleans the shared bathroom. A roommate dusts and sweeps the common areas of the house. One roommate keeps the kitchen area clean, but each roommate is responsible for her own dishes. The kitchen area should be free of dust and dirt and kitchen rubbish should be disposed of.
