Nothing is perfect, but if you’re looking to install a soft tonneau cover, then an Access tonneau cover comes pretty close. Aside from one or two minor points, it’s hard to fault it in terms of cost, looks, durability, and ease of installation.

Soft tonneau covers continue to be a popular option. While tough versions such as fiberglass look great, especially when combined with paint, they are expensive and more difficult to self-install, and they don’t provide much greater protection against theft or weather, and they don’t Save on your truck mileage more than its smoother competitors.

Soft truck shades are not only cheaper and easier to install, but they also allow better access to your cargo than most hard versions and can be easily removed completely when you need to.

Access tonneau covers are the market leader for roll-up versions. This isn’t too surprising considering the company’s pedigree. Having been in business since 1989, initially manufacturing farm tarps, the company has introduced many technical innovations to help ensure that its truck tarps are durable and easy to install and use. Products currently manufactured include; the Access Limited Edition Rollup Cover, the LiteRider Rollup Cover and the Lorado Low Profile Rollup Cover.

You get many features with an Access tone, like the patented EZ DIAL XT tension adjusters that allow the owner to adjust the tension of the fabric to their specifications. The tarp itself is made of durable UV protected vinyl.

The lid opens easily: simply release the automatic latch and roll the lid back, with the roll folding with it. The cover is easily closed by means of a strong Velcro sealing system and there is a three-point locking system at each corner of the truck bed.

The cover can be self-installed by almost anyone. No drilling or special tools are required. But nothing is perfect and this brings us to a minor complaint. The installation instructions that come with the cover are so-so and can be somewhat difficult to follow at times. Here’s a tip; If you’re about to put one in, go ahead and download the installation video from the company’s website. It’s really worth doing and you’ll have the deck on in half the time!

And while we complain; I’ve heard that some people found the supplied bolts to be too small. I don’t think this is the case and most seem to agree with me.

Aside from these two minor points (you probably won’t find them a problem at all), the Access Roll-Up Tonneau Cover is a winner in all departments. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more durable tonno truck cover that’s just as easy to install, stays put, and looks good for as long.

While it’s more expensive than other truck covers, it’s cheaper than the hard versions, and when you buy a soft roll-up cover, you really do get what you pay for. But don’t take my word for it; most reviews of Access tonneau covers give this product an excellent rating.
