Eating bland, unappetizing food is never a good idea if you can help it. Some people make the mistake of thinking that the Dukan diet must be difficult, that if it is easy it cannot be good. Could not be farther from the truth! You don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight and you don’t have to eat boring, bland food either. In this article, I’m going to take a look at five foods to add delicious flavor to your Dukan diet menu.

1. Mustard and horseradish

You can add instant flavor to your food by adding a bit of mustard. Both French and English mustards are allowed in all phases of the Dukan diet. Horseradish adds its own unique heat to the meat and is also allowed during all phases. If you like Japanese food, wasabi, a type of horseradish sauce, and ginger are allowed. They go very well with fish, which is why they are often served with sushi.

2. Vinegar

You can have all kinds of vinegar to use as a condiment. The most delicious vinegar, at least in my opinion, is balsamic vinegar. This adds a sweet and sour flavor to salads and meats. You can add vinegar to foods in all phases of the diet.

3. Pickled cucumbers and onions

Diced pickles and pickled onions can be added to your food for flavor and crunch. You can add them, considered as a condiment, during the attack phase, but if you eat a lot, you should consider them as vegetables and eat only in a day of protein and vegetables.

4. Sweeteners

It is not allowed to add additional sugar during the Dukan diet. However, if you have a sweet tooth and would like to make sweet desserts or like to have sugar in your tea and coffee, you can substitute sugar for sweetener. Sweeteners can be used in all phases of the diet.

5. Vanilla and cinnamon

Vanilla can be added to your food either from vanilla pods or from vanilla essence. The pods are expensive, but a couple of drops of vanilla essence will set you back a few cents. For a sweet heat enjoyed with sweet or savory dishes, cinnamon is a valuable addition to the Dukan diet. For a delicious treat, mix a half pint of skim milk, a couple drops of vanilla essence, and add sweetener to taste. You can enjoy one of these shakes per day, even in the Attack Phase.
