Google has had a difficult year. Despite his constant drive for innovation and efforts to introduce the latest technology, he still has a long way to go before he becomes the undisputed king of technology. One of the downsides this year has been the Nexus 6’s relative lack of success. The much-hyped phone has made headlines in today’s latest mobile news, gaining wide coverage even before its official launch. However, despite the hype and hoopla, things did not go so well for the Android Nexus 6 phone. Sales figures were well below expectations. What’s more, these figures were not only well below the figures for their predecessors, the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, but they were exceptionally low overall.

To make amends for the current problem, Google has repeatedly launched price cuts. The ridiculous price the phone was initially released for was unrealistic. For a brand that always distinguished itself from its competition by being pocket-friendly, Google’s first mistake was launching the Nexus 6 with a price tag that rivaled that of premium flagship phones from other brands. Although the Nexus 6 certainly came with fantastic specs that made it a much more cost-effective option compared to its competitors, this is a brand that college audiences and young adults have supported and defended no matter what. Nexus loyalists have never given up on the Nexus brand and due to their vocal support, this group has only grown in size each year.

However, with the exorbitant price of the Android Nexus 6 phone, it was impossible to buy and continue this brand lineage for two reasons. First, the price of this phone was way out of the league for college folks and young adults, the crowd that has predominantly supported the Nexus brand. Second, when you can get a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone or an LG G Flex phone for the same price, why would you settle for the Nexus 6? This was an imperative question that Google should have answered for itself before unleashing this brand on the world.

The damage is done and is irreversible. Despite all the price cuts Google is offering today, it will never be able to recoup the initial losses it has suffered, all of which were well documented and criticized in the latest mobile news. Today, people have already moved away from the Nexus brand. Critics have been prophesying that the Nexus 6 is the Nexus brand’s own swan song. After all, where can the Nexus go from here? The Nexus 7 came out years ago and it was a unique tablet. The Nexus brand has already covered everything now, from smartphones to tablets to tablets. So Google really hoped that the Android Nexus 6 phone would prove to be a worthy feather in its cap. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be, as the Nexus 6 hasn’t lived up to expectations at all.
