Clint Eastwood is a complete package for the film industry. He directs, produces and then features himself in his own movie. If you’re thinking that’s the end, no, it’s not because his directional adventure is also going for the Oscars. He is nominated in different categories such as best actor, best director and best film. He is one of two people nominated for Best Actor and Best Director for the same film, Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby. His directorial debut was Play misty for me (1971) and he has since directed 36 more films. He is currently working on The Mule (2019) as a director and actor alongside Bradley Cooper.
1. No forgiveness
No one can deny that Eastwood is a legend when it comes to westerns. He has acted in and directed many westerns and Unforgiven is one of my favorites. The film won four Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Film Editing. Clint Eastwood emerges as Munny, a former gunslinger who returns to his life of killing for money. The movie is a perfect example of heroism, courage, violence, friendship and revenge. With David Webb Peoples, he created some of the best characters and unforgettable moments, especially the last one where Munny threatened people before leaving town. Unforgiven is one of the best movies directed by Clint Eastwood.
2. American sniper
How much might a war affect soldiers when they return to civilian life? The correct and visual answer to that is American Sniper, based on the life of Chris Kyle, a war hero, deadliest marksman in the US Army who killed 255 terrorists in four tours. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it gets to the heart of a soldier who is unable to adjust to civilian life, often tormented by all the killing and suffering of war. The film stars Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle and Sienna Miller as Kyle’s wife Taya.
3. The Million Dollar Baby
This was the second time Eastwood had won other Academy Awards in the same category (Best Picture and Best Director) that he won for Unforgiven. Million Dollar Baby is another C. Eastwood masterpiece, a raw and moving story of an aging boxing trainer and an underdog amateur boxer who aspires to turn professional. The film features some stunning performances from Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman, as well as directing by Clint Eastwood. The film won 4 Academy Awards in four categories: Best Picture and Best Director for C. Eastwood, Best Actress for Hilary Swank, and Best Supporting Actor for Morgan Freeman.

Based on the autobiography Highest Duty by Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffery Zaslow, Clint Eastwood returned with Sully in 2016. The film follows the actual incident in which Sullenberger lands US Airways Flight 1549 in an emergency into the Hudson River with 155 passengers and members of the crew without any serious injury. Clint Eastwood Builds intense drama and suspense with a top-notch performance from Tom Hank. Directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, Sully is one of Eastwood’s best films as a director.
5. Gran Torino
After a 4 year long acting hiatus, he made his comeback as Walt Kowalski in Gran Torino, which was his 29th directional venture. Gran Torino is the first American film to feature Hmong Americans in a feature film. Written by Nick Schenk, he brought this one to life with his directing and acting skills. The film follows the life of a lonely retired auto worker and Korean War veteran, Walt Kowalski, who takes on gangsters who tried to coerce an Asian teenager into stealing Walt’s car. I remembered his “Get off my lawn” line. Men, at the age of 78 he played this character as an action hero, take it off to take the balls out of anyone who tries to get in his way. Gran Torino was a critical and commercial success for Clint Eastwood and one of his best directed films.
6. Mystic River
Just a year before the success of Million Dollar Baby, he directed and produced Mystic River (2003) which was nominated for 7 Academy Awards but won in two categories, Best Actor for Sean Penn and Best Supporting Actor for Tim Robbins. Clint Eastwood nominated for Best Director but loses to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Mystic River was very well received by both the public and critics, mainly due to the performances of the main cast and the direction of Clint Eastwood. Mystic River was an intensely suspenseful drama with great performances from the lead actors and first-rate direction from C. Eastwood.
7. Letters from Iwo Jima
Clint Eastwood took his skills to a new level to make a joint Japanese-American war film, Letters from Iwo Jima (2006). In fact, he directed two films, Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers, one from the perspective of Japanese soldiers and one from the perspective of American soldiers, respectively. Most appreciated was Letters from Iwo Jima, which is almost entirely in Japanese. The film was highly praised by critics for its performances, script, characters, and direction. Again, it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Direction. However, the film did win an Academy Award in the category of Best Sound Editing.

The Bridges of Madison County is a rare Clint Eastwood film in that it is not a crime or action film. The movie is a romantic comedy that is very rare for Clint Eastwood. The film stars Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep in the lead roles. Based on Robert James Waller’s novel The Bridges of Madison County, the film directed by Clint Eastwood, who is mostly known for his action and crime westerns, left his comfort zone and ended up directing a romantic drama film with powerful Performances by Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. . The movie is about an Italian war bride, who lives her life with her husband and her two children in Iowa and ends up falling in love with the National Geographic photographer, which changed her life.
9. A perfect world
A Perfect World is the movie where Clint Eastwood thinks about taking a break from acting and working behind the camera to focus more on directing. Following the critical success of Unforgiven, the film was released on November 24, 1993. A Perfect World is a crime thriller that tells the story of an escaped convict (Kevin Costner) who befriends a boy (TJ Lowther) who went on a road trip with the young man. An unusual journey of a criminal, Clint Eastwood very well adapts the story which was written by John Lee Hankcock. With this film, Clint Eastwood marked his achievement as an established director.
10. Play Misty for me
He debuted his first directional film with Play Misty for me and it’s in my top 10 films directed by Eastwood. The film sets a benchmark for C. Eastwood that, apart from his acting chops, he could contribute more than that and he has done exactly that with his lifelong career and is still directing and continuing to act in Eastwood’s own films. the. Play Misty for Me is a 1971 psychological thriller film in which a KRML radio disc jockey, Dave Garner, enters into a mixed relationship with the obsessive Evelyn Draper. The movie was well directed by Clint Eastwood and remains one of his best directorial efforts to date.
