Some 2-year-olds still sleep in a crib, some sleep in a toddler bed, some in a double bed, and some even sleep in a queen bed. The size of the bed a child sleeps in can be determined by many factors, including the space of the child’s room, how they like to sleep (some children like to feel cramped in a small space when they sleep, while others like likes to have room to roll), the child’s siblings and if they share a room and/or bed, and much more. One teen might sleep in a double bed the same size as a toddler, and another might even have a king-size bed in her room. So there really is no wrong answer when it comes to choosing a bed size for a child, even as they grow.

However, when choosing children’s bedding, it is very important to consider what type of bed the child has or make a decision about what type they will receive. There are cribs and children’s bedding for these, toddler beds, which generally have the same mattress size as a crib, twin beds, full size (also known as double beds), queen size, and king size, although it can be very Difficult to find bedding for a child that will fit a queen or king size bed. As they get older, and they wouldn’t want a cartoon theme anyway, it’s not that hard to find a type of bedding a child would like for a bed that big, but for the younger sect of kids, you can be near. impossible.

There are many different types of bedding that qualify as infant bedding for a child, and these include sheets (fitted, flat, and top sheets), blankets (which can be duvets, comforters, fleece blankets, and more), pillows, and covers, bed skirts, canopy curtains, cushions, regular pillows and more. Often times, most bedding pieces will come in a set, usually called a bed-in-a-bag, and other times they won’t. Buying them this way makes a lot of sense, for two reasons:

1. you save money
2. You don’t have to worry about accidentally buying mismatched parts

But, when they’re in a set like this, it’s important to pay attention to the pieces that do come in the bag, because some come with pieces that others don’t, like the bed skirt or shams.

Also, it’s good to know that these sets rarely have comforters or other types of blankets other than a comforter. Wool blankets are really good for children because they are extremely warm during the winter. However, it’s usually a good idea to have a duvet or bedspread too, because fleece blankets tend to come in different sizes than regular blankets, so when it comes to making the bed look good, these they usually don’t work as well as a comforter or even a bedspread. Many kids don’t like quilts as much, simply because it’s harder to find themed ones with their favorite characters or toys. But, if they like duvets, there are a wide variety of colors that they can be found in and they can be made to match the rest of the bedding and decor in the child’s room. There are also many children who do not like duvets because during the winter, these blankets are cold to get into when they are trying to sleep. This is, again, a matter of preference for each child, because many children love to get into a bed with a duvet and love the fact that they feel cold when you get in (some even refer to them as a ‘cold’ blanket). ‘), because during the summer they are much cooler to climb on than a fleece or wool blanket.

For most bed sizes, there are the same kids bedding options, there are some differences between buying a double or larger bed and buying a crib or toddler bed, and the options are different:

Twin, Full, Queen, King:

fitted sheets

top sheets

bed skirt

canopy curtain

quilt or comforter

Pillow covers

Pillow cases

throw pillows

Cribs:

fitted sheets

mattress pads

thin blanket

Bumper

bed skirt

Therefore, the children’s bedding options are slightly different here. Toddler beds fall right in the middle, and it just depends on the type of toddler bed you have as to what you should consider buying. For example, if it is a racing bed where the race car occupies the space from the mattress to the floor, there will be no need to purchase a bed skirt, although it is a choice in bedding. Often times, a crib set will come with a small baby quilt, but these are too fluffy to use when they are newborns. It is better to hang them until they are a bit older, or one option is to hang them on the wall above the bed. This way, you can still wear it as a complete outfit and keep the theme in the room, but without risking your child’s safety over it. Mattress pads are usually something you’ll need for cribs and oftentimes toddler beds. When the diaper leaks at night, these absorb the leak, preventing moisture from reaching the mattress. These work wonders, and many times they don’t cover the entire mattress, so you may worry about leaks going into a part that the pad doesn’t cover. But this is fine with toddler and crib mattresses, because they are usually plastic or vinyl on the outside of these mattresses for this very reason. Then you can wash and dry them when you change the sheets. Other larger mattresses are made from absorbent materials, so if a child wears diapers or wets the bed on a larger bed, it’s definitely a good idea to make sure the mattress is completely covered by a pad under the sheet.

Although there are so many options for children’s bedding, it can be difficult to choose which pieces to buy for your child, it is best to determine what your child wants and how you want your bed to look.
