Amsoil specializes in the sale of high-performance synthetic motor oil for cars, trucks, powerboats, monster trucks, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. But how good are their products and do they live up to the hype?

Amsoil Products – The Good Bits

Well, first of all, Amsoil has been around since 1972, so it must be doing something right! They have sponsorship deals with many top level motorsports events, teams and drivers and this shows that they are well respected in the industry. Nobody wants to be sponsored by a fake product, right?

Amsoil also performs well in industry tests and has been shown to compare favorably with other leading motor oil producers.

Amsoil Products – The Bad Bits

So if Amsoil products really are that good, why are so many people struggling to sell them? And why do so many Distributors end up failing?

The reason is that too many people are stuck in the past when it comes to selling their products. Amsoil is a network marketing business, which means that products are sold through a network of independent distributors, and not in stores or from a dedicated website. Traditionally, network marketers have always been encouraged to use what we call “warm marketing” techniques.

This means focusing on your friends and family, making introductions, handing out business cards, offering free samples and demos, and cold calling potential leads. These techniques might have worked in the last century, if you were trying to sell cosmetics, for example, but they won’t work in the 21st century for Amsoil.

The reason is that Amsoil products are specialty products. Although everyone needs motor oil, most people will be happy to pick up a cheap option in stores. Most people don’t need high performance oil and could do without the expense. If you spend all your time and money trying to persuade your friends and family that they need Amsoil, you will lose money like most other Amsoil dealers who are doing the same thing.

What you need to do is identify your “target market”. People who race motorcycles on weekends, for example. People who drive expensive sports cars. Transport and porterage companies that need to take care of their fleet. Enthusiasts who care about their car more than anyone else and are willing to take extra care of it.

These are the people you should be trying to sell to. Not only are they targeted potential customers (because you know they could benefit from using Amsoil), but they’ll probably already be buying similar products on a regular basis, meaning they’re ready to part with their cash.

The only thing you need to learn to do is find these people. If you can learn how to find people who are desperate to buy high quality motor oil, you will soon find that the products start to sell themselves and you start to make a fortune!
