Not sure what a convection oven is all about? This is how I felt before buying the Delonghi AD 1079. While researching convection ovens, I discovered that it has high-speed fans that circulate air around food. This circulating air speeds up cooking time by up to 20-40% and creates more even cooking. Since I am a mother of four and I take care of a lot of leftovers and foods that need to be kept warm for the kids to come home after an event and that sort of thing, I decided to give it a try. The model I chose to test was in the mid to upper price range. The pizza function and the rotisserie features intrigued me, so I decided to go for it.

I am very pleased with this addition to my kitchen and I am really amazed at how much I use it. As I try to avoid using my microwave, the Delonghi AD1079 is used more for reheating leftovers, melting butter, and keeping waffles and pancakes warm before eating. I also love making baked potatoes in the convection oven. It comes with a variety of different trays and racks that are very useful. Cleaning has been very simple. The interior has a DuraStone interior for easy cleaning and better heat distribution. Heats leftovers a hundred times better than a microwave. Nothing is soggy. I love using it to keep food warm before a meal. I struggle with timing all of my food so that one meal is ready at the same time. Now I can just toss it in the convection oven and it keeps it warm until lunchtime. This convection oven also makes excellent rotisserie chicken. Rotisserie keeps chicken moist. I was amazed at how easy it was. Pizza crusts are perfect. It also doesn’t heat my entire kitchen like my oven does. There are two levels so you can have cooking levels at the same time. It has been really fun and useful having this convection oven. I encourage you to branch out and try a convection oven if you haven’t already.

To have a balanced perspective, I must share some of the drawbacks. This convection oven is not for you if all you want to do is toast a toast or two or pop in a bagel in the morning. This is a convection oven, not a toaster oven. Convection ovens are better suited for light cooking. You can toast up to nine pieces of toast at a time in a convection oven, but making one or two would take too long. When I bought my AD 1079, I was disappointed that the middle grille popped out of the slots every now and then. I was able to fix this, but it was disappointing anyway. This convection oven has 1.1 cubic feet of capacity. It’s very big and it’s great for my big family. However, I suggest you evaluate your needs to see if you can get by with a smaller one and save counter space. The downsides to this convection oven model are few, but definitely something to consider.

I have found the Delonghi AD 1079 to be a great addition to my home and highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a convection oven to their home. It is well worth the money.
